Oops, there goes another one: Suede closes its doors

[UPDATED 10pm] The rumors floating around the street last weekend were almost too good to be true - Suede was closing their doors on Saturday evening for the last time.

Sources all over Lower Greenville - and a few inside the bar - told BD Suede was already on a month-to-month lease, operating under the not-so-steady hands of Joe Avezzano and his son Tony. The deadline for this month's lease was Tuesday, but they decided to throw in the towel. By Thursday afternoon, some of the kitchen gear was making its way to restaurants all over Dallas.

Lower Greenville is dead. Long live Lower Greenville!

A few weekends ago, BD posted a list of closed bars and empty retail spaces (Body count rising as bars close on Lower Greenville) on the Lower Greenville strip south of Belmont Avenue.

That story caught the attention of NBC5i, and they were out the following Monday (link and video) talking to BD, another Lower Greenville resident, and the owner of a new restaurant (Ibero Ultra Latin Cuisine) in the former Ali Baba's location.

This week, Lula B's announced they were expanding into the space formerly occupied by Ragwear at the corner of Oram and Greenville (link). And there's talk of a new Italian-style restaurant getting ready to take over the former Firehouse location in a few months.

There's a point to all this recitation, trust me.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to...

This is Alma. Last night was Alma's birthday. Happy birthday Alma.

Alma had a very exciting birthday on Lower Greenville. Exciting exciting exciting.

Alma and all her gangbanger friends came all the way from Garland to party on Lower Greenville. That's because there's nowhere in Garland for Alma and her friends to act like little beotches and get drunk.

Alma was partying in a bar on Lower Greenville. Party party party. Alma was drinking at the bar. Drink drink drink.

Alma made lots of money dancing with different men in the bar. Look at the money pinned to her clothes. Dance dance dance.

But then Alma and one of her friends got into a fight - over a guy. Fight fight fight. Scratch scratch scratch. Scream scream scream.

This is your face after telling the restaurant manager you want to smoke crack in the bathroom...

There are a few things you should not do in a restaurant, on or off Lower Greenville: Let your 2-year old use the potted plants as a toilet, offer to help the chef cook your dinner, and last but not least, tell the manager you want to smoke some crack in his bathroom.

Apparently, Mr. Douglas Bartholemew MacGregor's parents let him whiz on the plants too often when he was a child. And last night, he learned the hard way what happens when you tell the manager you want to smoke crack in the bathroom.
