What's next for Lowest Greenville?
In the past two weeks, Lowest Greenville has seen two shootings, one with injuries. The blood might still be on the sidewalk despite the rain.
And in blogs all around the interwebs, neighborhood residents, Council Member Angela Hunt, and others who are trying to get rid of these so-called legitimate business enterprises are being flamed by people who don't live here, insisting that if Dallas is gonna have a trashed out party zone, then it's gotta be on Lowest Greenville.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even the idiots who don't live here (oops there goes another opinion). But to make things fun, let's throw in a what-if scenario.
What if we all just let things go on the way they are, or worse? What would happen next? Here's a real story from a real city.
18th Street Gang tied to illegal after-hours bars
The clubs or casitas in South L.A. are connected to homicides, drug trafficking and gambling, LAPD says.
July 25, 2009 - Richard Winton - LA Times
A notorious Los Angeles street gang has expanded its criminal enterprises into the night life world, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Police Department and federal agents said the 18th Street gang operated underground after-hours bars, using them as bases for various criminal enterprises. Authorities said the locations have been connected to homicides, drug trafficking and gambling.
It does not take a leap of faith to ask - When will someone start shooting at club patrons instead of over their heads??
Just wondering out loud.
